I have seen pot legalized in my state. And I have seen very budding marijuana dispensaries coming up today. My mom who suffers from cancer has benefitted greatly from the quick availability of marijuana drugs that these dispensaries have facilitated. But apart from that, has the legalization of marijuana really benefitted our society today? Let’s look at some of the facts that the legalization of marijuana has left us with.

First there has been a huge drop in crime rates. This is not in my state alone. The Uniform Crime Reporting Data said that a year after the very first marijuana shop was opened in Colorado the state witnessed an approximately 10% decrease in overall crime and about 5% drop in violent crime. The reason for this was simple. Because marijuana had been legalized, there was easy access and drop in illegal transactions.

Again there has been overwhelming research. Research to improve the medicinal value of marijuana has come up. From Los Angeles to New Mexico, states have gone deeper into researching more benefits that the use of pot presents. They are committed to creating better strains at affordable pricing and in providing improved byproducts. This is providing the society with better and more reliable medicine.

Additionally there has been improved health. If you are looking at how to open a dispensary in California, you will realize that marijuana has a high medicinal capacity to control various diseases including cancer, glaucoma, AIDS, severe pain, migraines, lost appetite, and poor sleeping patterns among others, the society has benefited greatly. This has resulted into the overall wellness and wellbeing of the many residents. It follows that the introduction of marijuana in the market has been good.

Marijuana legalization has also provided jobs. More employment opportunities have come through this industry. In fact by just the introduction of pot shops, there have been many other auxiliary businesses too. From glass suppliers, delivery, suppliers, researchers, mixologists, budtenders, physicians, store managers, security guards, and many more the choices have been incredible and above all extremely viable.

Most importantly there has been rise in revenue. In states like Colorado the report states that over 10 million in taxes was collected from pot industry from the very first quarter of the year. This was in retail sales alone. Such revenue is really important in the development of infrastructure, campaigns against substance abuse, and in the improvement of the education sector among other things. Thanks to the legalization of pot.

Finally pot legalization has capped money laundering. There are no more exorbitant prices and no channels of funding any forms of outlaws. Many states that have legalized weed have come up with all important laws to regulate such things. This is important and has seen a well established sector.

The legalization of pot is no doubt very beneficial to the society today. We have had the chance to reap more from the sector as individuals and also as an economy. This has been very ideal for our vision and the development of the society.
